ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — Escambia County’s Section of Animal Welfare will soon have devices and training to sort an Animal Lookup and Rescue Disaster Reaction Staff that would be equipped to react to mass treatment functions all over the gulf area.
On Thursday night, the Escambia County Board of Commissioners authorised a grant agreement with the American Modern society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which gives $50,000 to the Division of Animal Welfare for the devices and education.
Escambia County Animal Welfare Director John Robinson stated they are always seeking to strengthen their disaster reaction.
“We served in the course of Hurricane Michael and Hurricane Sally, which had a massive effect here,” Robinson explained. “We get a great deal of these hurricane concerns, so we generally want to construct and be better at our disaster response and be capable to superior support our local community. This grant seemed like the perfect prospect for that.”
The program for the team is to have 10 Escambia County workers, together with staff from the Escambia County Crisis Reaction staff and Escambia County Fire Rescue, qualified in the following disciplines:

- Swift H2o Technical Rescue
- Flood Water Technological Rescue
- Boat Functions
- Wildfire Awareness
