AG’s office investigating Shakopee doggie daycare after lost dog prompts other complaints

A Shakopee doggie daycare and boarding facility is beneath hearth following a single lost pet led to a collection of other grievances.

Doggie Doo’s Spa and Retreat operator admits they messed up when 2-calendar year-outdated George disappeared a thirty day period in the past but states they have improved their protocols and they deny any of the other complaints. However, the Minnesota Legal professional General’s Business is seeking into Doggie Doo’s following the added noted incidents.

George’s operator Cory Geis mentioned he was a fantastic match for his roommate Bella. Geis dropped them both of those off at Doggie Doo’s Spa and Retreat for a two-hour trial visit in late February. When he came back again, the employees could not locate George.

“I was really upset,” claims the Chaska man who adopted each dogs from Golden Valley Humane Society. “I wasn’t stating much. Just couldn’t think that it was basically occurring. That a little something like this occurred at a area that was meant to care for dogs.”

Doggie Doo’s proprietor Starla Tyree suggests just one of her young workers put the two pet dogs outside to get ready for a satisfy-and-greet with some of the other puppies keeping there. But she suggests no one had eyes on George when the door opened.

“A kid opened it up, permit the canine out and the canine appear functioning and barking and George flew over the fence,” Tyree claimed.

George was a lean 45 kilos and springy, but Geis suggests the pit terrier by no means tried using to bounce a fence ahead of. He’s even much more upset the doggie daycare didn’t even know his pet dog was gone for 90 minutes.

2-year-old George disappeared a month ago at Doggie Doo's Spa and Retreat and still has not been found.

2-12 months-previous George disappeared a thirty day period in the past at Doggie Doo’s Spa and Retreat and still has not been identified.

One previous Doggie Doo’s personnel states the personnel are often just confused by the big amount of puppies authorized to remain there.

“Nope, there is no limit,” mentioned Marisa Worrell.

Worrell states she was bitten two times when canines could not be managed.

Kristina Kupietz claims late last year, her lab mix Palo came dwelling from Doggie Doo’s spooked and licking his leg. She at some point discovered a puncture wound and Palo desired surgery, which the vet reported resulted from a pet dog bite.

“Palo is a 1-12 months-aged lab blend,” claimed Kupietz of Shakopee. “I truly like him, and it was actually terrifying for me,” she stated.

The two Kupietz and Geis say they did not get satisfactory solutions from Doggie Doo’s house owners, so they complained to the condition legal professional general’s business office. Doggie Doo’s homeowners advised AG investigators Palo might’ve been bitten somewhere else — which Kupietz suggests is difficult.

The doggie daycare owners dismissed Worrell’s complaint as coming from a disgruntled former personnel. And they claimed they’re producing improvements to try and avert yet another runaway puppy.

“We’ve included additional cameras,” Tyree said. “We have experienced conferences with workforce to converse more, make positive everyone appreciates when we provide dogs in. And we have ordered air tags. And then we are putting an eight-foot fence up.”

Geis suggests he still has some hope that George will come dwelling that he’s just at someone’s property till they see a story like this just one.
