Former Holliston dog trainer accused of animal cruelty is convicted

WOBURN — A previous Holliston dog trainer who was caught on video clip picking up and swinging a German shepherd by the collar has been identified responsible of a single depend of animal cruelty.

Cheryl Rochleau, 53, of Douglas, was uncovered responsible previous Friday soon after a two-day demo in Middlesex Exceptional Court.

She was sentenced to just one 12 months of probation and purchased not to operate as an animal trainer, not to possess any animals she did not personal at the time of her arraignment in 2020 and to entire a method intended for individuals who have abused animals.

Rochleau is a former animal coach at Holliston Pet Meadows on Summer months Street. According to a law enforcement report filed in courtroom, the online video confirmed Rochleau picking up and swinging the German shepherd by the collar. According to the report, the online video was recorded in 2017 by another employee at Holliston Meadows on her cellphone, but they did not report the incident at the time.

Police explained a Holliston detective watched the 36-second video and regarded Rochleau. The detective stated in the report that the video clip showed Rochleau walking an 8-month-old pup named Scout on a treadmill.

The puppy appeared to be battling on the treadmill and appeared to be panting, according to the report. As the dog experimented with to get off the device, the video showed Rochleau grabbing extra skin in close proximity to the dog’s hinds legs and forcing it back again onto the treadmill.

The dog once again got off the treadmill, an motion that appeared to direct to Rochleau becoming abusive, in accordance to the police report. Police wrote that Rochleau grabbed the dog’s leash, picked the canine up from the flooring and “whirls the puppy on the leash in a fifty percent-circle with all (its) paws totally off the ground,” police wrote in the report.

The incident left Scout panting, law enforcement stated in the report.
